Entrepreneurship Competition 2017 Rules

  1. To qualify, all members of the team must be enrolled between Grades 9 – 11 at a Curro/Curro-managed school.
  2. Teams may have between 3 – 4 members (It is suggested – but not mandated – that each team be represented by learners from at least two different grades).
  3. Teams must choose whether they would like to enter the Business Entrepreneurship category or the Social Entrepreneurship category.
  4. Teams may only enter one category (i.e Business Entrepreneurship or Social Entrepreneurship).
  5. Learners may join one team only.
  6. Teams must submit the following for the competition.
    a. A video presentation of no longer than 5 minutes
    b. A five-page business plan
  7. Submissions of the video presentation and the business plan need to be e-mailed to entrepreneurship@curro.co.za (teams can WeTransfer the video file and the business plan).
  8. Video presentations and business plans will be assessed, based on the judging criteria for the specific category, as specified on the website.
  9. A mentor (parent/entrepreneur, preferably not an educator) must be identified to mentor and guide the team throughout the year.
  10. Curro Holdings will select 5 finalists from each category. Feedback on their video entry and their business plans will be provided to the 10 finalists to assist them to improve their business plans for the finals in September. One winner, per category, will be chosen. At the finals, the teams will not be judged on following specific criteria as was the case in the first round, but rather their ability to pitch and quality of their business plans.
  11. Great prizes will be given to finalist and runner up teams.
